All summer, the great high school band "Oversoul", was waiting.
waiting for an opportunity of a lifetime. Awaiting that one natural high they have been seeking
for months....
Our first ever Live performance was held this glorious summer.
only a few blocks away from the band headquarters, my dads long time friend, Roger, was setting up his backyard for an anniversary party. All of my dads friends (including my dad) Are musicians, and a stage was needed for the party. For days they worked, constructing what will be our first stage played upon.
We had but two days to figure out our set list for the evening awaiting us. we agreed on three original tune's. all hard rock, although one with a blue's sorta feel to it. For those two days we only went through the routine about three times. The set list only being three songs in length, made for a quick performance, tickling your musical fancy for about ten to fifteen minutes. That's all time we needed.
We arrive at around 8 o'clock to a swarming 40 sum odd people ("swarming" may not be the best word to regard a mere 40 people, although the backyard was not very big) and my dad and his friends were already playing on stage. mingling with all the other folks made concentrating on what's ahead difficult.
we all stayed calm, knowing that our months of practice are about to pay off.
A raise of the bass player's hand (the one on stage) and a flick of his wrist in a beckoning motion, signified the starting of our moment, the night we were about to own.
The climb onto the stage was almost too eager. huge smile's ranging from one cheek to the other filled our faces as the crowd got themselves hyped up.
1.......2........3.........4 BAM! SHOWTIME. not long later, and were being pulled off stage by party goers. All of them screaming " Maaan that was great! you guys are only seventeen?!".
The walk home was like no other. all my friends all liquored up, the band and i high on life, it couldn't have been better.
The rest of the summer, was, well, usual. Working, playing, and recording...you know.
Really happy schools back in, getting to see all the ladies everyday..and my friends. I'm lovin' livin' life. period.
